Camp is over for 2025. In 2026 VYF is going on tour and there will likely not be a camp in August of 2026. Check back later to see about camp in 2027.

We have left the 2025 info here so you can get an idea what camp is all about.

Bursaries - Give a little, take a little

Bursaries Closed for 2025

Applications for a bursary for the 2025 fiddle camp closed on May 25. This information is provided for future years.

At Northwest Fiddle Camp, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy of music. To help make that possible, we offer two bursary programs. If financial barriers would prevent you from attending camp, we encourage you to apply.

Current Bursaries

Twisted String Bursary – Twisted String was a dynamic group of talented local fiddlers that emerged from the Valley Youth Fiddlers. Mentored by Oliver Schroer, they pushed the boundaries of fiddle music, captivating audiences at local festivals like the Smithers Midsummer Music Festival and the Kispiox Music Festival. Known for their vibrant costumes and energetic connection with young audience members, Twisted String left a lasting legacy. When the group disbanded, remaining funds from album sales were used to create this bursary. Our goal is to keep this bursary ongoing. If you would like to contribute, please email us—online donation options are coming soon. This bursary is available to residents of BC's Northwest Region.

Fiddle for All Bursary – Made possible through funding from the Government of Canada via the Bulkley Valley Community Foundation, this is a three-year program with limited annual funding. This bursary is available to individuals living anywhere in Canada.

You don’t need to specify which bursary you are applying for—our team will match you with the appropriate one to ensure the funds are used as effectively as possible.
